Official Release of Tre motetti sacri by Giacomo Cataldo on Aion Techni
On the 5th of November 2012 Aion Techni will proudly unveil its first exclusively digital release - "Giacomo Cataldo - Tre motetti sacri". This "mini release" will be available exclusively as a digital download and features the world premiere recordings of three new a cappella choral works by composer Giacomo Cataldo, as performed by the CMP Chamber Choir conducted by Jan Ocetek.
Cataldo has always had an interest in the sacred choral tradition and this set of motets mark his first contribution to the form.
The texts selected for all three of these works have a long musical history. Apart from numerous polyphonic settings, the first musical use of all three texts was as Gregorian or plainsong chant. The text of Ardens est cor meum is associated with Easter Saturday, as would only be natural considering its meaning. The text Regina caeli also appears to date from the middle ages and is one of the four seasonal Marian antiphons. The text Vox dilecti mei is taken from the Canticum canticorum (Song of Songs, or Songs of Solomon).
Musically, Cataldo envisioned these works as a continuing evolution of this rich tradition.
Aion Techni remains commited to producing recordings of the highest quality, and to ensuring that new and under explored repertoire and performers are able to be heard. It is our hope that this first foray into digital distribution will make our releases more readily available to a wider audience.
This release will be available from all major online retailers including Amazon MP3 and iTunes as well as at CD Baby.
